Our holiday accommodation is located in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park and is in easy reach of many of the mines and slate caverns in the area.

Llechwedd Slate Caverns

Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog are about 20 minutes drive from Trawsfynydd Holiday Village. You can explore the world of the victorian slate miners by descending on a train deep into the mine to see breathtaking caverns, tunnels and an underground lake. Above ground is the Llechwedd Village which is a living museum of life in the past with buildings including the Old Quarry Office, the Miners' Arms and a Victorian Sweetshop where you can buy anything from a wine gum to home made fudge. Zip World Caverns

Located at the same place as Llechwedd Caverns (See above), Zip World Caverns offers you an exhilarating way to explore dis-used slate caverns, some of which have been inaccessible for nearly 200 years, via zip wires, rope bridges, balance beams and small ledges. It is suitable for adults & children aged 10+ & lasts up to three hours (10% off if you book your holiday with us).

Llanfair Slate Caverns

Llanfair Slate Caverns are near to Harlech and about 25 minutes from the village. You enter via twin arches into the Cathedral cavern and descend Jacobs Ladder to wander through the tunnels and chambers to emerge at the other end to view Cardigan Bay. On the same site as the slate caverns is the Children’s Farm Park.

King Arthurs Labyrinth

Down at Corris, 30 mins away, people visiting King Arthurs Labyrinth take a boat on an adventure along an underground river learning about the tales of King Arthur and other ancient Welsh legends, as well as explore the dramatic underground caverns and winding tunnels of the Labyrinth. Also at the same location is Corris Mine Explorers where you can choose from 3 trips to explore the historic workings of an old slate mine and visit Corris Craft Centre.

Go Below Underground Adventure

Go Below Underground Adventure is based near to Betws-y-Coed (~30 mins) & offers three unique adventure experiences, the Go Below Challenge, the Go Below Xtreme and the Ultimate Xtreme. On all 3 underground adventures you challenge yourself with things like abseiling, zip lining, scrambling or climbing a waterfall. The Underground Challenge is suitable for people aged 10+ and the other two are for those over 18. If you book your holiday with us you, can get 10% off your adventure (valid all year except during School & Bank Holidays).

Sygun Copper Mine

Sygun Copper Mine in Beddgelert is 35 mins away and offers self-guided audio visual tours through winding tunnels and large colourful chambers and caverns with stalactite and stalagmite formations. In the museum there are antiques, coins, fossils and dinosaur eggs and you can also have a go at pottery painting, metal detecting, gold panning and play on the adventure playground.

The Great Orme Copper Mines

The Great Orme Copper Mines are about an hours drive away in Llandudno and date back 4,000 years to the Bronze Age, 2,000 years before the Roman invasion. A visit is both an enjoyable and educational experience which can be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages.

The National Slate Museum

The National Slate Museum in Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, (1hr away) is housed in the Industrial Victorian Workshops. Amongst other things there are quarry craftsmen demonstrating the traditional skills, engineering workshops, and a giant waterwheel.
