Trail Running in Snowdonia, Coed y Brenin Accommodation

Trail Running in Snowdonia

Trail running in Snowdonia is very popular and with UK's first Trail Running centre 2 miles down the road in Coed y Brenin and Snowdonia's mountain and coastal routes on our doorstep, our log cabin accommodation is a great place to base yourself whether you're competing in one of the many races held throughout Snowdonia or just fancy trying some of the trails out.

Coed y Brenin Trail Running

Coed y Brenin boasts the UK's first trail running centre having 4 waymarked running trails suitable for both novice and experienced runners. Not only that, but the routes pass through river valleys and oak woodland, across moorland and several ridges and offer panoramic views of Southern Snowdonia. The two moderate routes are the Sarn Helen Trails, where the short trail is 2.7 miles long and the long route is 5.2 miles. The GoldRush Trail covering 8.5 miles and the Half Marathon Trail covering 13.5 miles are classed as strenuous.

The route maps are kindly supplied by Run. Coed y Brenin, Coed y Brenin's trail running shop stocking apparel, footwear and accessories.

At Coed y Brenin there are several races throughout the year: the Buff Winter Trail Wales, Salomon Trail Marathon Wales, the Petzl Night Trail Wales and the Anna Frost 10k (part of the The Anna Frost Big Trail Weekend) are all organised by the same company and the Goldrush Trail Race. Just 15 minutes drive down the road at Portmeirion is the 6th Trail Race and starting from Blaenau Ffestiniog (20 minutes away) is the Trailffest Half Marathon. The Scott Snowdonia Trail Marathon leaves from Llanberis.

There are a number of fell races too, including the Aran Fell Race, Ras y Moelwyn, the Cader Idris race and the International Snowdon Race to name just a few.
